Coaching and Training for Social Entrepreneurs
and Mission-Driven Business Owners
with C.J. Hayden
Do you want to make a difference in the world
with your business or nonprofit? Is your enterprise built around a social agenda or global mission?
Working with me as a coach or trainer can help your passionate ideas make a bigger
impact on the world.
I help my clients make a living by making a difference.
I believe that everyone has a path of right livelihood — a way of earning a living that makes the best
use of your talents, honors your values, and allows you to be of service to others. My personal mission is to
assist you in succeeding at your right livelihood by building an enterprise that makes a positive difference
in the world. If you own or lead a business or nonprofit that combines a social agenda with entrepreneurial
practices, or you are ready to launch a new social entrepreneurship venture, I may be the right person to
help.
Here's what I help my clients do:
- Get clear about what you want to accomplish
- Evaluate your venture concept and develop a sustainable business model
- Develop your leadership qualities and management skills
- Solve problems, eliminate obstacles, and avoid pitfalls
- Overcome fear, procrastination, and self-doubt
- Locate resources, make connections, and build alliances
- Set realistic goals and make effective action plans
- Gain perspective, get feedback, and discover new ideas
- Stay true to your mission and on track with your plans
I work with my clients in three different ways. Working
one-on-one with you, I serve as a coach, mentor, and advisor. My approach is a blend of business coaching with mentoring
and practical advice. Working with your team, I serve as an
advisor and facilitator, helping your team strategize, plan, and stay on track. Serving as
a trainer, I deliver workshops on social entrepreneurship, social enterprise, and marketing.
I have the skills and experience to help you and your enterprise with:
- Practical visioning, strategy, and planning
- Developing your potential as a leader, manager, and entrepreneur
- Marketing tactics, tools, and skills
- Business models, finding capital, and fundraising
- Product design and development
- Managing projects and people
- Learning attitudes and habits that lead to success
Since 1992, I have been helping clients like these:
- A successful author wanted to use her experience
in the publishing industry to found an entrepreneurial nonprofit teaching business skills to at-risk
girls. I coached her to clarify her vision, define the mission of her enterprise, overcome her self-doubt,
form her first management
team, and build alliances in the community, and make it all fit into her busy life.
- An MD who founded a medical research
facility to discover new treatments for AIDS/HIV hired me to work with his management team to define
appropriate marketing strategies, develop a marketing action plan, and mentor the doctor/CEO personally in
learning entrepreneurial thinking, better delegation skills, and project management techniques.
- A training school owner worked with me to
begin sharing her innovative ideas about leadership and personal development on a worldwide basis. I
advised her on public relations and writing techniques, and coached her to balance her heavy workload with
managing her health, nurturing a new relationship, and writing a book, while growing her nonprofit school from a
local success into a global enterprise.
- A husband-wife team of psychotherapists contacted
me about their mission to make psychological services available to areas in crisis in the developing world.
I mentored them in reorganizing their private practices and finances to make a life of travel and volunteering
possible.
- The new director of a social enterprise asked me to
assist with creating a sustainable business model for the venture, and a realistic action plan for her ambitious
goals. I advised her on developing a detailed business plan, mentored her in fundraising, and coached her to build
her management and communication skills.
My clients are founders and leaders of businesses
and nonprofits, and individuals with a global mission or social agenda. They include social
entrepreneurs, for-profit or nonprofit social enterprises, business owners with a social mission,
solopreneurs engaged in social change, and founders and directors of nonprofits. I work with clients in any
phase of developing a venture, from the beginning stages of exploring an idea or vision
through later periods of expansion and growth.
Here's what some of my clients say about our work together:
"You have been instrumental in facilitating the development of a successful business
plan, and your extensive professional network has brought into this organization a wealth
of important connections... In you I have found a mentor, a coach, a business-savvy advisor,
a skilled networker, and a wise woman."
Amy Wilson • Director, Ashoka Youth Venture San Francisco
"Your coaching sessions have moved an idea, a passionate dream of mine... into a working reality...

move forward full speed ahead."

mastery of your business, your expertise in business marketing, and my sense of your integrity. You
delivered on all those... What I experienced and came to value so highly is your ability to hold a space,
keeping me in my vision and helping me practice self-compassion."
Beth Hand, MBA • Leadership Coach

achieving your dreams. It is even better when that champion has the wisdom, expertise and experience to guide you in the
steps to take to make your dreams a reality. That is what my experience in working with
C.J. has been like."
